Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead land acquisition activities to support new sites and business expansion.
  • Manage relationships and negotiations with landowners, communities and relevant external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate the end-to-end permitting process and ensure existing permits remain valid and compliant.
  • Work closely with internal Operations, Legal, Government Relations and other functions to resolve land and regulatory matters.
  • Proactively identify potential stakeholder, land and permitting risks that could affect business operations or expansion.
  • Manage and de-escalate community objections, disputes and other external friction.
  • Support the company in handling sensitive or hostile situations, including organized resistance, threats, intimidation or security-related incidents, in coordination with relevant internal teams.
  • Maintain strong relationships with local government and other relevant authorities.
  • Establish stakeholder mapping, engagement and escalation processes for the new function.
  • Provide regular updates to management on land, permitting, stakeholder and external risks.
  • Support the development of a scalable framework for managing land and external affairs as the business expands.

The Successful Applicant

Key Requirements

  • 7-12 years of relevant experience in land acquisition, permitting, external affairs, community relations, government relations or similar functions, preferably within property, retail, manufacturing, mining, plantation, infrastructure or other land-intensive industries.
  • Hands-on experience managing land and permit matters, including landowner negotiations, land acquisition, licensing/permitting processes and coordination with local government or relevant authorities.
  • Proven experience handling difficult external situations, such as land disputes, community objections, protests, stakeholder resistance, threats or other sensitive situations, with the ability to coordinate effectively with Legal, Security and management.
