This is a newly created Government Relations leadership role established to support the company's expansion agenda in Indonesia. The position will lead engagement with government stakeholders, manage complex permitting and external affairs issues, oversee NGO and community-related matters, and serve as the bridge between corporate management and site teams across region.

With ongoing expansion plans and a strong focus on governance and compliance, the business is strengthening its Government Relations capability to support sustainable growth.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead the company's Government Relations function in Indonesia.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with national and regional government stakeholders.
  • Support business expansion projects, including permitting and regulatory stakeholder management.
  • Manage licensing, regulatory, and external affairs issues that may impact operations.
  • Partner closely with legal, operations, and site management teams to resolve stakeholder challenges.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to site-based external affairs and community relations personnel.
  • Engage and manage relationships with industry associations and relevant external stakeholders.
  • Handle community, NGO, social, and reputational issues affecting operations.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and advise management on potential risks and opportunities.
  • Represent company interests with professionalism, integrity, and sound judgement.

The Successful Applicant

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Law, Political Science, Public Administration, Communications, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Government Relations, Corporate Affairs, External Affairs, Public Affairs, or related functions.
  • Strong understanding of Indonesian government processes, permitting frameworks, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Experience managing regional government, community, NGO, and regulatory stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to navigate complex external issues in highly regulated industries.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-management capabilities.
  • Experience in agribusiness, plantation, natural resources, manufacturing, energy, or similar sectors preferred.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to balance operational realities and corporate priorities.
  • Mature, collaborative, and culturally adaptable leadership style.
