Job Description

  • Lead the Group's litigation and dispute resolution strategy across complex and high-value matters.
  • Manage disputes from initial assessment and pre-litigation strategy through proceedings, appeals, settlement and enforcement.
  • Provide strategic legal advice on complex property, real estate, land and asset-related disputes.
  • Develop litigation strategies that protect the Group's commercial, operational and reputational interests.
  • Oversee high-calibre disputes involving significant financial exposure, strategic assets, counterparties and other sensitive business matters.
  • Assess the merits, risks and commercial implications of potential disputes and recommend appropriate courses of action.
  • Lead negotiations, mediation, settlement discussions and other alternative dispute resolution processes where appropriate.
  • Manage and provide strategic direction to external counsel, ensuring appropriate case strategy, quality of advice and cost effectiveness.
  • Work closely with senior management, business units and internal legal teams to develop evidence, assess exposure and determine dispute strategy.
  • Represent the Group in strategic engagements with external counsel, courts, government authorities, regulators and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Monitor major disputes and provide regular updates to senior management on case developments, potential exposure and recommended actions.
  • Establish and strengthen internal frameworks, processes and precedents for litigation management and dispute prevention.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior legal professionals and contribute to the development of the wider legal function.

The Successful Applicant

  • 15+ years of legal experience with a substantial track record in litigation and dispute resolution, including a portfolio of complex, high-value or high-profile disputes.
  • Strong combination of law firm and in-house experience, with meaningful property and real estate exposure in both environments.
  • Demonstrated experience handling sophisticated property, real estate, land and commercial disputes, ideally involving significant assets, financial exposure or strategic business interests.
  • Strong command of Indonesian litigation and dispute resolution processes, including civil litigation, commercial disputes, arbitration and/or other forms of alternative dispute resolution.
  • Proven ability to independently develop litigation strategy and manage matters through to resolution, rather than primarily acting as a coordinator of external counsel.
  • Experience managing and directing top-tier external law firms on complex disputes.
  • Strong commercial judgment and ability to translate legal risks and dispute strategy into clear recommendations for senior management.
  • Excellent negotiation, advocacy, stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Indonesian Advocate License (PERADI) is strongly preferred.
