We are representing a well-established and expanding business group with significant operations in Bali. As part of its continued growth and operational strengthening, the company is seeking a commercially driven and hands-on Legal Counsel to lead the legal function on the ground.

Job Description

Key ResponsibilitiesCorporate & Commercial Advisory

  • Provide comprehensive legal advisory support on corporate structuring, governance, shareholder matters, and strategic transactions
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements (services, procurement, partnerships, joint ventures, etc.)
  • Advise management on legal implications of business decisions, ensuring risk is assessed and mitigated
  • Oversee corporate secretarial matters, including compliance with Indonesian corporate regulations

Risk Management & Dispute Resolution

  • Identify, assess, and mitigate legal risks across business operations
  • Lead and manage dispute resolution matters, including civil, commercial, employment, and regulatory disputes
  • Coordinate and supervise external counsel in litigation, arbitration, mediation, or regulatory proceedings
  • Develop internal protocols and preventive measures to minimize potential legal exposure

Licensing, Permits & Regulatory Compliance

  • Oversee all company permits and operational licenses, ensuring timely renewals and compliance with local and national regulations
  • Liaise with relevant government authorities, regulators, and external stakeholders
  • Monitor regulatory developments and advise management on changes impacting the business
  • Ensure compliance with sector-specific regulatory requirements

Stakeholder & Management Support

  • Work closely with senior management and operational teams to provide practical, business-oriented legal solutions
  • Support strategic projects, expansion initiatives, and new business ventures
  • Build internal legal awareness and strengthen compliance culture within the organization

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's degree in Law (Indonesian-qualified); advocate license is a plus
  • Minimum 7-10 years of relevant experience (law firm and/or in-house combination preferred)
  • Strong foundation in Indonesian corporate law, commercial contracts, and regulatory frameworks
  • Demonstrated experience handling disputes and working with external counsel
  • Solid understanding of licensing and permit processes, particularly within Bali or similar regional regulatory environments
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to work independently
  • High integrity, proactive mindset, and commercially pragmatic approach
  • Willingness to be based in Bali
