About Our Client

Our client is a prominent institutional investment organization with a significant and sophisticated investment portfolio. As part of a strategic technology transformation agenda, the organization is seeking an accomplished IT Project Implementation Head to lead the implementation, integration, and transformation of mission-critical investment technology platforms. This is a highly visible leadership role sitting at the intersection of Technology, Investments, Operations, Data, Risk, Finance, and external technology partners.

Job Description

This role will take senior ownership of major investment-technology implementation initiatives from strategy and solution design through integration, migration, testing, deployment, and adoption.Key responsibilities will include:

  • Lead large-scale implementation and integration of investment management platforms, ensuring programs are delivered against business objectives, architecture requirements, and implementation milestones.
  • Own end-to-end program delivery covering requirements gathering, solution design, system integration, data migration, testing/UAT, cutover, deployment, stabilization, and post-implementation enhancement.
  • Translate investment and operational requirements into executable technology roadmaps and implementation plans.
  • Partner closely with investment teams, private markets professionals, operations, risk, finance, compliance, data, and technology stakeholders.
  • Lead integration between investment platforms and the broader enterprise technology and data ecosystem.
  • Drive complex data migration, reconciliation, interface, API, reporting, and workflow requirements across multiple systems.
  • Serve as a senior point of engagement with software vendors, implementation partners, consultants, and systems integrators.
  • Establish strong program governance across scope, budget, resources, dependencies, risk, quality, and delivery.
  • Challenge vendors and internal teams constructively on architecture, implementation methodology, functionality, timelines, and technical solutions.
  • Anticipate implementation risks and resolve complex technology, data, process, and stakeholder issues before they affect program outcomes.
  • Ensure platforms are successfully embedded into business processes rather than simply technically deployed.
  • Provide clear executive-level communication on program status, risks, trade-offs, dependencies, and critical decisions.
  • Build sustainable internal capability and ensure effective knowledge transfer from external implementation partners.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to project managers, business analysts, technology specialists, and cross-functional project teams.

Investment Technology ExperienceOf particular interest are candidates who have personally led the implementation, integration, migration, upgrade, or major transformation of institutional investment technology platforms.Relevant platforms may include:

  • S&P Global iLEVEL
  • FIS Investran / Private Capital Suite

  • or comparable institutional investment, portfolio management, private-capital, deal-management, risk, analytics, and investment-data platforms.

Direct eFront/Aladdin experience would be particularly relevant to a private-markets transformation mandate. BlackRock describes eFront as technology covering private equity, private debt, real estate and infrastructure, with functionality supporting investment data management, portfolio monitoring and the broader investment lifecycle.Importantly, experience as an end user alone will not be sufficient. Candidates should be able to demonstrate meaningful responsibility for the actual implementation and integration of one or more sophisticated investment platforms within an institutional environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead large cross-functional programs through ambiguity, competing priorities, and complex organizational environments.

What Will Differentiate the Strongest CandidatesThe most compelling candidates are likely to combine three attributes:

1. Deep Investment Technology Exposure

They understand how institutional investment organizations operate and have worked with sophisticated front-, middle-, or back-office investment platforms.

2. Genuine Implementation Experience

They have personally taken major platforms from requirements and design through integration, migration, testing, go-live, and stabilization rather than simply managing vendors or consuming the systems as users.

3. Enterprise Program Leadership

They have the seniority and credibility to orchestrate complex transformation programs involving investment professionals, technology teams, executives, vendors, and multiple implementation workstreams.Relevant BackgroundsPotential candidates could currently or previously have held positions such as:

  • Head of Investment Technology
  • Head of Investment Systems
  • Head of Investment Platform Transformation
  • Investment Technology Program Director
  • Director / VP / SVP, Investment Technology
  • Head of Private Markets Technology
  • Investment Systems Implementation Director
  • Enterprise Program Director, Asset Management Technology
  • Transformation Director, Investment Management
  • Principal / Director / Partner within an Investment Management Technology consulting practice

We are particularly interested in executives who have worked within sovereign wealth funds, institutional investors, private equity firms, alternative asset managers, pension funds, investment management organizations, or consulting/technology firms delivering major investment-platform implementations to these institutions.

What's on Offer

  • This is an opportunity to take a senior leadership role in a strategically important investment-technology transformation, rather than simply manage an individual software deployment.
  • The successful executive will have the mandate to help shape how technology, data, and investment platforms support the organization's investment activities and will work closely with senior stakeholders across investment and corporate functions.
  • For candidates who have successfully delivered complex investment-platform transformations and are looking for a role combining investment domain knowledge, technology leadership, and enterprise-scale execution, this represents a highly compelling mandate.
