Jakarta Permanent Work from Home or Hybrid View Job Description
This is a founding leadership position responsible for building and leading the credit risk function in Indonesia from the ground up. You will shape the market strategy, define the credit risk agenda, and own portfolio outcomes at the country level.
  • A fast‑growing global fintech.
  • This is a founding leadership position.

About Our Client

A fast‑growing global fintech operating across emerging markets is expanding its footprint in Southeast Asia. The company is committed to advancing financial inclusion through technology-enabled lending solutions and responsible risk management. Indonesia will become a central hub for the next phase of growth.

Job Description

Beyond Indonesia, this role will also play a key part in establishing the Southeast Asia (SEA) Credit Risk practice, working closely with regional and global leaders. We are looking for a senior leader who is comfortable being hands‑on in the early stages - writing policies, running analyses, working directly with regulatory bodies - and later building a team as the business scales. Key responsibilities:

  • Defining the end‑to‑end credit risk agenda for Indonesia, identifying priorities and building the framework from scratch.
  • Leading credit strategy with strong quantitative rigor; develop underwriting policies, credit limits, scorecards, and collections approach.
  • Partnering with data science teams to apply and refine predictive models, translating insights into decisioning rules.
  • Establishing portfolio monitoring standards and drive loss‑mitigation strategies.
  • Managing regulatory relationships, including obligations under the OJK framework.
  • Overseeing preparation for and compliance with the Fit & Proper Test, where required.
  • Influencing cross‑functional stakeholders and align market strategy with broader business objectives.
  • Leveraging modern analytical tools (including AI‑supported workflows) to improve speed and accuracy.
  • Building and leading the credit risk team as operations scale across Indonesia and eventually the SEA region.

The Successful Applicant

A successful candidate should have experience in the financial services industry (banking / multi-finance / fin-tech). Other requirement include:

  • At least 15+ years of relevant experience in credit risk, consumer finance, fintech, or financial services.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and operationalize a credit risk framework from zero, not only operate within an existing structure.
  • Strong technical depth - comfortable working hands‑on with SQL, Python, and quantitative risk modeling.
  • Understanding of the Indonesian lending ecosystem, preferably with experience in multi‑finance or consumer lending regulated by OJK.
  • Experience with or readiness to undergo the OJK Fit & Proper Test.
  • Comfortable working in ambiguous, high-growth environments and making data-driven decisions with incomplete information.
  • Exceptional stakeholder influence skills across technical and non-technical groups.
  • A strong understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance standards relevant to Indonesia.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to influence and drive organisational change.
  • Excellent analytical and decision-making abilities to manage complex risk scenarios.
  • Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • A proactive approach to identifying and mitigating risks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to be based in Jakarta.
  • Open to foreign candidates who are familiar with the Indonesian market and regulatory landscape.

What's on Offer

  • A rare opportunity to build and own the credit risk function in a key Southeast Asian market.
  • Shape the SEA regional practice, not just the Indonesia market.
  • High level of autonomy and direct impact on business success.
  • Work with globally experienced teams and cutting-edge fintech technology.
  • Competitive compensation, including relocation support for international candidates.
