Job Description

1. Product & Technology Expertise (Domain Knowledge)

Electronics & Circuit Design:

  • Strong knowledge of analog and digital circuit design used in industrial I/O products, such as power supplies, signal conditioning circuits, and output circuits (e.g., NPN/PNP, relays).
  • Knowledge of EMC/EMI (Electromagnetic Compatibility/Interference) principles and design techniques to ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., CE, UL) is considered an advantage.



Mechanical Design & Materials:

  • Understanding of enclosure design and material selection suitable for industrial environments, including resistance to temperature, vibration, and chemicals.
  • Familiarity with plastic and metal molding design principles.



Industrial Sensors (Proximity & Photoelectric Sensors)

  • Understanding of operating principles, sensing mechanisms, circuit/coil design, and sensing distance determination.



Controllers & Timers (Analog & Digital)

  • Knowledge of input circuit design, microcontrollers, embedded system programming, and display/interface technologies.



2. Product Development & Lifecycle Management

  • Product Lifecycle Management (PLM): Experience in managing products from concept and R&D through prototyping, testing, validation, New Product Introduction (NPI), and continuous improvement of existing products.
  • Testing & Validation: Strong understanding of test methods for performance, reliability (including lifetime testing), environmental durability, and regulatory compliance.
  • Cost Optimization: Expertise in Value Engineering/Value Analysis (VE/VA) to reduce BOM and manufacturing costs while maintaining product quality and performance.



3. Standards & Quality

  • Industry Standards: Familiarity with industrial automation standards such as UL, CSA, IEC, CE, and related certifications.
  • Quality Processes: Knowledge of quality tools and methodologies, including QC7, Six Sigma, and FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), applied during product design to minimize risk and prevent failures.

The Successful Applicant

  • Minimum educational qualification: Bachelor's degree (S1) in Electrical Engineering, preferably with a focus on weak-current electrical engineering.
  • Proficient in English; Japanese language ability is a strong advantage.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role.
  • Proven ability to lead and mentor engineering teams in troubleshooting technical issues and enhancing technical competencies.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple product development projects, set achievable milestones, and ensure on-time, within-budget delivery.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross-functionally, particularly with Manufacturing and Quality Assurance teams.
