Job Description

Reporting directly to senior management, the Head of Project will be responsible for:

  • Leading the overall execution of the alumina smelter project from engineering through commissioning and handover.
  • Managing project schedules, budgets, resources, and risk mitigation plans to achieve project objectives.
  • Coordinating EPC contractors, consultants, vendors, and other external stakeholders.
  • Driving project governance, reporting, and performance monitoring across all project phases.
  • Ensuring compliance with HSE standards, environmental regulations, and corporate policies.
  • Leading contract administration, procurement strategies, and commercial negotiations.
  • Managing stakeholder engagement with shareholders, government authorities, and local communities.
  • Building and leading a high-performing project team to deliver operational excellence.
  • Identifying project risks and implementing corrective actions to minimise cost and schedule impacts.
  • Supporting commissioning, start-up activities, and operational readiness initiatives.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Head of Project should have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering; Master's degree is an advantage.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in project management within mining, metals, smelter, refining, or heavy industrial sectors.
  • Proven track record leading large-scale greenfield industrial projects with multi-million-dollar CAPEX values.
  • Strong understanding of EPC project execution, construction management, and commissioning processes.
  • Experience in alumina, aluminium, smelter, refinery, or mineral processing projects is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership capability in managing multidisciplinary and multicultural project teams.
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience managing contracts, procurement, and project finances.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Fluent in English and Bahasa Indonesia.
  • Willingness to be based at project sites as required.
