The successful candidate will shape long-term strategy, strengthen stakeholder confidence, oversee sustainability performance, and ensure the business remains well positioned amid evolving regulatory, market, and ESG expectations.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the Group ESG & Sustainability strategy aligned with business growth and international market expectations.
  • Lead sustainability governance, materiality assessments, ESG risk management, and enterprise-wide sustainability performance.
  • Oversee compliance and continuous improvement against internationally recognised frameworks including FSC, PEFC, GRI, ISSB, TNFD, CDP, SBTi, and evolving regulatory requirements where applicable.
  • Drive responsible forest management, biodiversity conservation, HCV/HCS implementation, ecosystem restoration, water stewardship, and climate resilience initiatives.
  • Lead human rights due diligence, FPIC implementation, social impact programmes, community development, and responsible supply chain initiatives.
  • Establish robust traceability and responsible sourcing programmes to meet evolving customer and regulatory expectations, including EUDR and similar market requirements.
  • Build strategic relationships with government agencies, certification bodies, NGOs, industry associations, customers, investors, financial institutions, and international stakeholders.
  • Partner closely with Forestry, Plantation, Operations, Supply Chain, Legal, Government Affairs, Corporate Affairs, and Commercial teams to integrate ESG into operational and investment decisions.
  • Lead sustainability reporting, external assurance, ESG ratings, investor engagement, and responses to sustainability-related issues and reputational risks.
  • Build and mentor a high-performing ESG organisation while strengthening ESG capability across the wider business.

The Successful Applicant

Key Requirements

  • Approximately 20+ years of executive leadership experience within ESG, Sustainability, Forestry, Plantation, Pulp & Paper, Agribusiness, Mining, or other highly regulated natural resource industries.
  • Demonstrated experience leading sustainability strategy across large-scale operations, including certification schemes (e.g. FSC/PEFC), responsible sourcing, biodiversity, climate transition, human rights, and complex multi-stakeholder engagement.
  • Strong credibility engaging C-suite executives, Boards, government authorities, international customers, certification bodies, NGOs, investors, and global sustainability organisations while balancing commercial performance with long-term environmental and social commitments.
