Job Description

As a Shipping Business Unit Director, your main responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and implementing shipping strategies to enhance overall operational efficiency.
  • Overseeing procurement and supply chain processes to ensure seamless shipping operations.
  • Managing and optimising fleet operations to meet industry standards and client expectations.
  • Collaborating with internal departments to align shipping activities with broader company goals.
  • Monitoring key performance indicators to assess operational effectiveness and identify improvements.
  • Ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements related to shipping and logistics.
  • Building relationships with stakeholders, including suppliers, customers, and governmental bodies.
  • Driving cost-efficiency initiatives while maintaining high service quality.

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Marine Engineering, Nautical Science, Logistics, or Business Administration.
  • Minimum 20 years of experience in the shipping or marine logistics industry, with at least 10 years in senior management (GM/Director/BU Head).
  • Deep understanding of both technical marine operations and strategic business management.
  • Proven experience managing multi-vessel or multi-site shipping operations (bulk, tug & barge, cargo, or offshore).
  • Strong business acumen with demonstrated success in P&L leadership, contract management, and business development.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
  • Willing to be based full-time in Kalimantan, with frequent travel across Indonesia.
