Job Description

As a Senior Process Safety Engineer, your main responsibilities will include:

  • Lead process safety activities including HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, QRA, and other PHA methodologies.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain Safety Management Systems (SMS) to ensure robust risk control.
  • Ensure compliance with national and international safety and environmental regulations (OSHA, API, IEC 61511).
  • Review and approve process safety design requirements and engineering changes, ensuring safe design principles.
  • Conduct consequence analysis, SIS development, and reliability engineering assessments (FMEA/FMECA).
  • Develop and implement SOPs, emergency response plans, and safe startup/shutdown procedures.
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and coordinate corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Monitor safety performance, support audits, and manage continuous safety improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate with operations, maintenance, contractors, and regulatory bodies to ensure safe execution of activities.
  • Mentor and train staff to strengthen process safety awareness and embed a strong safety culture across teams.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Senior Process Safety Engineer should have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related field; Master's preferred.
  • 15+ years of experience in Oil & Gas, specifically in process safety roles.
  • Experience in managing safety throughout design, construction, and operations.
  • Strong knowledge of gas processing technologies and process safety.
  • Expertise in HAZOP, LOPA, FMEA, QRA, and PSM systems.
  • Familiarity with OSHA 1910.119, API RP 754, IEC 61511.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Certification such as CCPSC or CSP is an advantage.
