Job Description

As a 'Senior Legal Counsel,' your main responsibilities will include:

  • Providing strategic legal advice on matters relating to energy and natural resources law.
  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts and agreements.
  • Representing the organisation in legal proceedings.
  • Ensuring compliance with local and international laws and regulations.
  • Managing relationships with external legal counsel.
  • Advising on risk management and corporate governance matters.
  • Conducting legal research and providing training to staff on legal matters.
  • Participating in the development and implementation of corporate policies and procedures.

The Successful Applicant

Key Requirements:

  • Law degree (LL.B or equivalent); Master's in Law (LL.M) is a plus.
  • Minimum of 7 years of legal experience, preferably in the oil & gas, energy, or natural resources sector.
  • Strong experience in contract negotiation, regulatory compliance, and dispute resolution within upstream operations.
  • Knowledge of energy laws, production sharing contracts, and international arbitration.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage with government agencies, regulatory bodies, and industry partners.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a business-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to work independently and provide strategic legal insights to senior management.
