Job Description

Leadership and Teamwork

  • Takes a broad view of organisational capability; assesses the needs of the business and takes action to meet long-term capability needs.

Health, Safety and Environment

  • Maintain a clear picture of the key risks in the working area, and the critical controls to manage these risks.
  • Explain Health, Safety, and Environment expectations to direct reports and ensure they understand and deliver to their Health, Safety, and Environment accountability.
  • Ensure adequate Health, Safety, and Environment and technical resources and training are available.



Functional Excellence

  • Establish / maintain relationship with existing client and stakeholder.
  • Identify internal opportunities to create further business or add value to existing projects.
  • Liaise with Manager Mining to identify new business opportunities within existing projects.



Business Knowledge

  • Sets a growth/profit strategy outside the normal paradigm to achieve significant business/project results.
  • Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, statutory obligations and company policy.
  • Avoid situation resulting in a conflict of interest, bribery or the use of inducements to secure business.



Technical and Technology

  • Identify and priorities opportunities for operational improvements across site.
  • Manage business improvement team to assist with identification and implementation of operational improvements across sites.
  • Facilitate liaison with Plant Department to assist in identifying operational related issues which on Plant Department performance.
  • Identifying training requirements for sites and liaise with Manager Training to ensure delivery.
  • Oversee the development of long term (12 months) Mine Plans for projects.
  • Supply mine planning and training resources as required.
  • Research and develop new mine planning technology to keep the client company at forefront in mine planning aspects.
  • Consult with client and operations/Project Manager on long term mine planning requirements.
  • Assist tender preparation and procurement of new mining work.
  • Assist and supply resources to site specific based task requested.



People and Development

  • Maintain team performance.
  • Provide regular feedback and mentor the growth and development of direct reports.
  • Involve in annual assessment process and proactively seek for development plans.
  • Ensure development plan is available for team members so that they keep up with required skills & competencies for current and future roles.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Head of Technical Services should have:

  • Holds a Tertiary Degree in Mining or Civil Engineering.
  • Experienced in both coal and minerals.
  • Minimum of 10 years previous experience in Mining Operations role. Has previous experience at a mine site.
  • Technical skills and knowledge.
    • Mining principles and processes.
    • Mine Design Concepts and Operations.
    • Awareness of Indonesian Mine operation regulatory requirements.
    • Indonesia culture understanding of the client company business.
    • Industry best practice and standards.
