Job Description

As a Head of Legal, your main responsibilities will include:

  • Set the organisation's legal strategy and ensure alignment with operational, regulatory, and long‑term business priorities.
  • Oversee corporate governance processes, internal controls, and compliance frameworks across multiple sites and business units.
  • Review, negotiate, and finalize key commercial, operational, and partnership agreements.
  • Lead regulatory matters, including licensing, permits, environmental obligations, and industry‑specific compliance requirements.
  • Provide structured legal guidance to senior management on business risks, regulatory changes, and strategic initiatives.
  • Ensure company policies reflect current legal standards and support ethical, responsible operations.
  • Manage relationships with authorities, industry associations, and community‑linked stakeholders as needed for legal processes.
  • Coordinate dispute resolution, external legal representation, and litigation strategy when required.
  • Maintain corporate records, statutory obligations, and governance documents in accordance with relevant regulations.
  • Support leadership in decision‑making through clear legal assessments and scenario analysis.
  • Monitor and interpret regulatory developments affecting operations, sustainability, labour, land, environment, and supply‑chain compliance.
  • Provide training and awareness programs to internal teams on legal responsibilities and compliance practices.
  • Oversee external legal counsel engagement, ensuring high‑quality, cost‑effective support.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Head of Legal should have:

  • At least 12 years of legal experience, ideally with exposure to complex operational or multi‑site industries.
  • Advanced understanding of Indonesian regulatory frameworks, corporate governance, and sector‑specific compliance requirements.
  • Strong capability in drafting, negotiating, and reviewing a wide variety of commercial and operational agreements.
  • Proven ability to guide senior leaders, manage legal risks, and make sound judgments in dynamic environments.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complex issues for non‑legal audiences.
  • Demonstrated experience working cross‑functionally with operations, finance, sustainability, and corporate functions.
  • High integrity and commitment to ethical, responsible business practices.
