Job Description



  • Developing and implementing strategic plans for efficient and safe blasting operations. Coordinating with various stakeholders, including mining engineers, geologists, and production teams, to ensure effective collaboration and adherence to project timelines.


  • Utilizing their expertise in blasting techniques, explosives, and safety protocols to provide technical guidance and support to the engineering team. Conducting research and staying updated on industry advancements to optimize blasting processes and improve productivity.


  • Managing multiple projects simultaneously, including assessing project requirements, estimating costs, and developing project schedules. Ensuring that engineering activities align with project objectives, regulatory requirements, and company standards.


  • Leading a team of engineers and technicians, including recruitment, training, and performance management. Providing guidance and mentorship to the team, fostering a collaborative work environment, and promoting a strong safety culture.


  • Conducting risk assessments and implementing safety measures to mitigate potential hazards associated with blasting activities. Ensuring compliance with relevant safety regulations, industry standards, and environmental policies.


  • Managing the procurement, maintenance, and utilization of equipment and resources required for blasting operations. Collaborating with vendors and suppliers to ensure the availability of necessary materials and technologies.


  • Analyzing operational data, such as blasting results, productivity metrics, and cost-efficiency indicators. Generating reports and presenting findings to management, highlighting areas for improvement and recommending appropriate strategies.


  • Identifying opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, and innovation within the blasting engineering department. Implementing best practices and fostering a culture of continuous improvement to enhance overall operational efficiency.

The Successful Applicant



  • Extensive knowledge and experience in blasting operations, including a deep understanding of blasting techniques, explosives, and safety protocols in the mining industry.


  • Strong leadership qualities to effectively manage and motivate a team of engineers and technicians, promoting collaboration and fostering a positive work environment.


  • Proficient in project management, including the ability to plan, coordinate, and execute blasting operations while adhering to project timelines and budgetary constraints.


  • Thorough understanding of safety regulations and environmental policies in the mining sector, ensuring strict adherence to compliance standards to maintain a safe working environment.


  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with various stakeholders such as mining engineers, geologists, production teams, and regulatory authorities, ensuring effective coordination and alignment of objectives.
