About Our Client

Are you a self-starter, and a risk-taker who is interested in joining a newly established business (retail)? A client of ours, a multi-national diverse business is looking to invest in Indonesia. This is their first project in Indonesia, and they have identified the retail sector as their next investment. As such, they are looking for a country manager to spearhead this retail business in Indonesia.

Job Description

Reporting to the Group CEO, you will be the key hire for this investment, and you will be expected to strategize, plan and execute the business. Other responsibilities include:

Commercial:

  • Developing and implementing strategies to increase market shares and to create brand awareness.
  • Managing budgets, forecasting sales, and ensuring profitability and financial health of the company.
  • Analyzing market shares, trends, consumer behaviour and analysing competitors so that he/she can adapt their strategies accordingly.
  • Serving as the primary spokesperson for the entity in Indonesia, representing its interest in public events and media interactions.



Operations:

  • Developing the blueprint for the retail business, and implementing the strategies for launching.
  • Ensuring the right locations will operate efficiently to meet the company's standards.
  • Ensuring that stores are compliance with local laws and regulations.



Leadership:

  • Recruiting, building, and leading a high-performing executive team, and fostering positive corporate culture.
  • Communicating and collaborating with stakeholders, including the board of investors, employees and customers.



As this is a newly launched business, you will also be expected to be involved in setting up the legal entity and a few administrative details required.

The Successful Applicant

This role is only opened for candidates who speak both Bahasa and English, and you have to possess excellent communication skill. Other requirement includes:

  • At least 10+ years of working experience in the management / leadership position, and you have to come from: Retail or FMCG sector. If you have experience in consulting firms, with combination in retail and FMCG, you are also welcomed to apply.
  • Bachelor degree from reputable university.
  • Experience in working for both local and multi-national companies will be higly preferred.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire and motivate team.
  • Hands on, ability to work with minimal supervision, and does not mind working in a lean set up.
  • Strong understanding of retail (general management, operations, commercial).
  • Ability to navigate complex and changing environments while maintaining focus on strategic goals.
  • Agile, able to understand the fast-paced of this business.
